Front wheel sliding at low speed on tactile paving

Reported via mobile in the Vegetation & maintenance category anonymously at 23:57, Thu 1 August 2024

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6305798.

Dangerous combination of cornering across multiple longitudinal tactile paving with tree debris and sap/residue around grate and camber changes. Have come off previously in dry on a cargo bike with small 20” front wheel, so always cautious around this curve where you are likely to encounter both pedestrians and cyclists. Last two times have lost front wheel on a folding 20” bike and a 26” MTB with suspension forks in the wet and just about managed to stay upright.

  • Agreed with this problem (reported in early August) - and all the other 'channelled paving' on this cycle route into Headington. Whoever designed this did not ride a bike!? The channels force the wheels to go one way, despite the bike riders wishes - and add the now deep wet slippy leaves it needs something doing ASAP. Once the frost hits these channels it is literally terrifying to try and steer a bike through them.
