Thank you for bringing this to our attention. A job is raised for the vandalised (stem snapped) pear to have it removed, we have managed to scrounge a replacement for this upcoming planting season (November to March) and it will be replaced with a Kordia cherry to compliment the already planted Early Rivers, the Kordia produces bountiful crops and fruit production is late in the season. The second vandalised tree is being left in situ for the time being and will be replaced by the designer of the project.

There is a concern that leaving the damaged tree(s) may lead to copycat damage. The missing trees may affect cross polination of those varieties. Not yet sure exactly which were snapped (the labels were taken with the broken part).
The trees originally planted forming the community orchard were as follows:
Apple trees: - Two of James Grieve; and - Two of Ellison’s Orange.
Pear trees: - Two of Beurre Hardy; and - Two of Doyenne du Comice.
Plum trees: - One of Damson (Prunus domestica Hauszwetsche); and - One of Greengage. (Prunus Reine-Claude D’Oullins)
Cherry trees: - Two of Early Rivers.(Prunus avium).

Thank you for your comments. The job raised has been amended to include the second tree. The loss of two trees will not affect cross pollination.
