Urgent need for a red warning ‘STOP’ and/or ‘GIVE WAY’ sign
Reported via desktop in the Sign Missing/Damaged category anonymously at 08:39, Tue 4 October 2022
Sent to Bromley Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 3866304.
Following yesterday’s (Monday 3 October) ‘flipover’ accident.
Currently there are no warning signs of the approaching junction of Ashfield Lane with Heathfield Lane and the requirement of west bound Ashfield Lane traffic to stop and give way...
Photos attached taken 07:30 Tuesday 4 October.
Would it be possible to put up the appropriate red warning ‘STOP’/‘GIVE WAY’ signage to alert motorists who are unaware of this junction?
There is a ‘GIVE WAY’ sign on the other side of Heathfield Lane.....

Your report has been reviewed by the traffic engineering department who advise that the give way markings should adequately warn road users of a junction, but they will investigate the location to see if additional signage is required.

This is dangerous. I have reported the same issue before. The lines on the road do NOT give enough warning that there is a junction. The road slopes downhill to the junction and is dark at night, meaning that motorists do not see the Give Way lines. Most junctions like this would have a street sign - it is only a matter of time before someone is seriously injured here, and when it does, I will make sure I point their insurers to the multiple requests submitted for a sign.
