  • Thank you for your enquiry. A qualified arboricultural officer has examined the tree in question and concluded that no works are required at this time. This decision has been made in line with Our Tree Management Strategy and Council policy which can be found on the Council’s website. Therefore I am sorry but on this occasion the Council will not be undertaking any works to the tree.

Policy 2 from the council’s Tree Management Strategy states:

    • Lack of light: there is no ‘Right to light’ (or shade) in British law.

We understand that lack of light caused by trees is a common problem however we of are the view that the benefits that trees bring to our streets and parks outweigh the negatives, so we try to retain trees wherever possible.
