Reported via iOS in the Public Trees category by Alison Stammers at 09:55, Monday 23 May 2022
Sent to Bromley Council less than a minute later
For attn of Hugh Chapman please The tree at the end of The Meadow Chislehurst was planted after much chasing a couple of years ago following the unauthorised felling of the previous tree. It was quite a saga at the time!
However, unfortunately the replacement tree has now died. Apparently the watering bag disappeared a while ago. The person who saw this had assumed it was taken by a member of the public (it had previously been slashed, either deliberately or stupidly - perhaps someone didn't realise the water bag releases water very slowly over a long period?). However, they noticed the ties to the posts had been adjusted, so perhaps this was the contractor taking the bag away? Either way, continuing to water it without a water bag has been a mammoth and obviously fruitless task!
Please confirm a replacement tree asap - presumably next planting season?
This also raises concern about ongoing maintenance of new trees.
Thank you for your report, this is now being investigated. Information on our services and the timeframes we aim to respond in can be found: http://www.bromley.gov.uk/ fixservices

A job is raised to remove the dead tree, with a replacement added to the planting schedule 2022/23 which is in hand to be planted next planting schedule starting in November running through to March 2023. We have recently appointed Lloyds Environmental as the contractor for the young tree maintenance including watering and receiving positive feedback from works undertaken so far.
