Sent to Westminster City Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 3182433.
On the 10th of November 2021, as I was walking in Sussex Gardens, I fell really badly, injured my knee and ended up with a bloody knee and ripped jeans. My knee swelled largely and I was in a lot of pain in my knee area for some time. I still have to watch my movement and cannot do certain movements and have to wear knee support to avoid further damage in case of a hasty movement I may make. I have damaged my knee due to Westminster negligence. The Council basically gave up on cleaning the leaves on pavements. Though there is not much concern when the leaves are dry as they are not slippery, when wet, they are extremely dangerous and when I fell, they were quite wet due to raining. It is not as if the leaves were not cleaned for a week or so, they were not cleaned for weeks and even a couple of weeks after my fall the Council had failed to clean. When attention was made, they were only pushed back to the side and were not removed! I am not even sure it was pushed back by the council and not by residents! I don't understand why the Council thinks it is important to clean the Connaught street area regularly but have been careless towards Sussex gardens? I should say this is not the first time I have fallen due to your lack of care and diligence. I fell last year in Bouvier place, W2 due to uneven tiles, tore my trousers again and a few years back I fell terribly as my foot tripped in a large pothole in Southwick Street W2, that nearly a car hit me. An old woman also fell in that pothole and was taken to hospital. This was reported to the council a few times before it was dealt with. So you can understand why I have just had enough and feel when does the next accident happens every time I walk to the supermarket or other errands as I am kind of scared to trip or slip. I am, therefore, holding Westminster Council responsible for the injuries and my fear of falling in the streets and seeking compensation from Westminster Council for the damages I have suffered. Please pass my message to a relevant department if it is not your department which should be dealing with this matter. Thank you, F Mohebbi
