Tree Damage to over 50% of trees

Reported via mobile in the General Enquiry/Complaints category anonymously at 10:18, Tue 16 November 2021 using FixMyStreet Pro

Sent to London Borough of Bexley less than a minute later

In the past week more of the trees have been torn down and thrown to side in the park and or laying across pathways. Looking at previous reports, this is allegedly your problem? Can you please explain to me who is actually incharge of maintaining this new green open space considering if was full of council officials bragging about it on social media when it first opened?

Who is responsible for the children's playground and the gym equipment then? Emptying of dog bins etc? Since selling the park it appear no one actually knows who is supposed to maintain it? The damage done to the trees is criminal damage and should be reported to the police by the whoever actually owns it?

  • I absolutely second all the above. Vandals recently threw a 5ft section of one of the broken trees into my garden causing damage to my property. What is the point of this site if nothing is ever done to rectify this ongoing problem. Supposedly each new tree costs approximately £1000 so that equals at least £20,000 of criminal damage. Bexley council are obviously happy to lose this amount of money as they continually ignore our concerns.

  • Still awaiting any kind of response from the council about who owns the park? Further update, the walkthrough to the footbridge over the tracks behind the new builds is completely full of bits of rubbish and waste building material. Is this just going to be left there? Requires a litter collection...

  • I can see the trees have been cut down to the stumps now... Are they being replaced at all?

  • Another email asking me if the problem is fixed... No. Again on the trees being replaced? Cracks in the resin pathway. The houses are not even finished and the refurbished park area is already looking awful. Great advertisement to new owners in the area of how Bexley Council maintains public and communal spaces...
