Car dumped for 8 weeks or more

Reported via mobile in the Abandoned vehicles category anonymously at 20:16, Thu 28 October 2021

Sent to Oxford City Council less than a minute later

A car has been dumped close to the junction of St Nicholas Rd (OX4 4PP), and opposite the entrance to Marlborough Close (OX4 4PH). It has been there since the school term began 8 or more weeks ago. It’s position makes it difficult for busses and residential traffic to get in/out of Marlborough Close and St Nicholas Rd. It hasn’t moved the entire time it’s been there, and is dusty/dirty. There are flats, houses, nearby, but it is obvious no one has used it in weeks. Car is a black Vauxhall. Reg: MJ61 JFG. It is starting to attract vandals, the back windscreen wiper has been pulled away.

Updates

  • This vehicle has current road tax so I have no grounds for action, I will visit to see if there are any parking restrictions in place, but even then will only be able to report it to the wardens, as I have no powers to deal with parking infringements.

  • Still open, via questionnaire, 22:11, Thu 25 November 2021

  • Car is still there, still hasn't moved. According to DVLA, it has tax but no MOT. Causes traffic problems on a regular basis due to its location on a busy road and by the junction into Minchery Farm.

  • I have visited - An expired MOT is not grounds by which a local authority can take action, it is probably infringing section 243 of the highway code, but if so it would require the Police to take action.
