Every year, twice a year, I usually have to contact the council to clear the street of weeds as we tend to be missed from the main drag of Haycombe Drive. This has always been the case.
I noticed last week that the grass was being cut on the verges of Haycombe Drive but our street is missed again. It doesn't have grass but it does have weeds that need a strimmer to cut them because they are so thick.
I notice that when I drive or walk through different areas of Bath, I see litter pickers not only picking litter, but also removing weeds on pavements and even roadsides. However, in seven years of living in Whiteway I don't see this here. Particularly, I do not see any of this on my street, Haycombe Drive (Odd Numbers). No litter pickers. I suspected it, but since working from home in the last 18 months, can now confirm it.
I don't mind the litter picking. It feels good to do something for the community and the environment. However, what I do really struggle with is the weeds that I have to experience for most months of the year. It makes the area look neglected. The cats use it as their personal litter tray because there is so much debris and people throw their litter here because another crisp packet or can doesn't matter.
We have a short spell following the de-weeding in spring but then the weeds just grow again and again, and every year I feel like I have to convince the council that my street is worth attending to this. I'm hoping this is the last time I will need to do this because of our move. But I do think something should be done about it.
I have attached some photo's which aren't the best. But I wanted to highlight the weed with the lampost. It's taller than me and I'm 5" 4' tall!
Please help our street. Please help it look as it should. A part of the area and the city, rather than a back street that isn't worth the councils time.
