Blocked surface water drains
Reported via mobile in the Road, Pavement and PROW Issues category anonymously at 14:34, Fri 8 October 2021
Sent to Bromley Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 3050338.
The lake is back. There seems to be infinite money to buy flower boxes to block off roads, how about doing something vital and sorting out the surface water drains that have caused so much flooding in London this week?

This is NOT fixed. It is no good just sending a contractor with a gulley sucker. This needs more attention. The drain from these gullies to the sewer is blocked. This has been reported now for months. Please stop prevaricating and get someone to actually look at it and take action.

Still open, via questionnaire -
I would agree with the above comment. There is no point gulley sucking these severely blocked gullies? It's like papering over a crack. I have been reporting on them for the past 6 months and the commitment to find the cause of the blockage is disappointing. Bromley Council and Thames Water need to work TOGETHER to get to a resolve and not bounce the issue between each other. The bad (wet) weather is coming and the drains today (sans rain) are already over flowing and stagnating? They are also a danger/hazard to pedestrians as the road and area around (inc the pavement when it breaches the curb) it is starting to get very muddy and slippery - what it will be like in winter is anyone's guess!

Still not fixed!!! Please don’t send a gully sucker, this needs to be looked at by an engineer and appropriate action then taken.

Bromley Council - site meeting with South-eastern Railways and Network Rail due 15.2.22 .... their subways appear to be being pumped into SW drainage system of unknown status.

The network rail pump issue is a red herring. It has no bearing on the fact that these gullies are blocked and need urgent attention to stop the continual flooding in this area. The fact that these gullies have been blocked for so long has probably raised the ground water level and aggravated the problem of flooding in the adjacent tunnels. PLEASE drive this on and get it fixed. It’s not rocket science.

Site Meeting between Bromley Council , South Eastern Rail and Network Rail determined that the road gullies concerned are almost certainly linked to railway track drainage. The road gullies and the chamber receiving the pumped flows from the subway are linked to the same system that was built along with the railway. Network rail are now investigating the system to determine a way forward.
