Blocked drain on WEST MOAT CLOSE

Reported via desktop in the Road and Pavement Issues category anonymously at 10:14, Thu 1 July 2021

Sent to Bromley Council less than a minute later

The drain on West Moat Close, which is an adopted highway, is blocked and causing surface water to not drain properly and run into Westgate Road. I have reported this twice already (2827292 and 2805027) and you keep saying it is a private road. WEST MOAT CLOSE is an adopted highway and is not a private road.

  • The gullies on West Moat Close have been inspected and found to be clear. However in periods of heavy rain they are unlikely to be able to cope with a high volume of water in a short space of time. This may be exacerbated by any issues on drainage assets on the unadopted Westgate Road. There is a nearby Thames Water main surface water sewer line and Thames Water may be able to check their asset to ensure there is no blockage or obstruction. Bromley can confirm that the assets in West Moat Close will be attended through Bromley’s proactive drainage maintenance schedule within the next few months.

  • Thank you for your patience on this matter, we are investigating this issue. Due to the complexities that can be involved with drainage infrastructure cleansing (for example: where we are having difficulty in gaining access to an asset) this report is taking longer to resolve than normal
