New drop kerb is a H&S issue

Reported via desktop in the Roads/highways category anonymously at 20:52, Sunday 13 June 2021

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later

WODC have recently raised the dropped kerb in Albion Street opposite Albion Yard and in doing so have created a safety issue where vehicles are grounding on the kerbs causing them to damage both the cars and kerbs because the dropped kerb has been raised too high - it is 90mm above road level at the worse point which is beyond any recognised height for dropped kerbs - vehicles entering or leaving Albion Yard do so at such a slow speed that they are vulnerable to impact from other road users and visitors have reported damage to their cars due to the impact with the supposed 'dropped kerb' - this needs to be inspected by a Highways professional and remedial work carried out before an accident or further damage occurs - in short WODC have created a serious safety problem that did not previously exist at tax payers expense

  • Cars are being damaged and there is the serious danger of an accident as cars gave to enter and leave Albion Yard very slowly

  • The problem still exists and is not going away - there are continuous complaints from visitors and delivery drivers who are unaware of the dangerously high dropped kerb - how long does it take for the Local Authority to react to a potential Health and Safety issue ?

  • Raised curb is a danger but us not stopping storm water running into Albion Yard it us the worst of both worlds
