Two very badly blocked road drains
Reported via desktop in the Road and Pavement Issues category anonymously at 17:14, Sat 29 May 2021 using FixMyStreet Pro
Sent to Bromley Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 2756930.
Water is stagnant and has been like this for months - pass every day on way to New Beckenham station - needs unblocking?

We have investigated this report and found the location is not the responsibility of Bromley Council (such as private property or an unadopted road). We are unable to progress this report further and advise you contact the responsible party.

But Bromley council have parking restrictions on this road so does that not indicate that the road is managed by the council if you are collecting levies off of it? Is the road owned by network rail as the drain needs unblocking and it's not going to do this unless it's reported to the correct authorities - is there anyway you can confirm who owns that section of road?

Still very badly blocked road gulley that was reported back in May? It's now so bad it has wildlife living in it and with flash floods due any day over the SE of England there is a real danger of it overflowing onto the pavement. How bad does this have to get before something is done?

I reported these blocked gullies back in May, June and July and nothing seems to have been done to unblock them? The water has evaporated on the road side but the gullies are still very much blocked? Failure to remove the blockage can lead to leaks, odours, pipe damage and potential flooding - and as it is right outside my house I worry about the impact on my property?

They may have been gulley sucked by your contractor but they are still blocked. They need to be not only sucked out but also have their connection to the surface water sewer cleared. This is NOT fixed.

A small amount of rain fall and the blocked gully x 2 on Park road outside New Beckenham Station already v badly overflowing.
I have reported on these since May and nothing has been done to alleviate the issue?
The pavement has already been breached and you can not get to the station unless you walk on the road.

Thank you for your patience on this matter, we are investigating this issue. Due to the complexities that can be involved with drainage infrastructure cleansing (particularly where an obvious issue does not present itself and a more in depth review of the entire network is required, where our assets adjoin onto assets belonging to a third party, or where we are having difficulty in gaining access to an asset) this report is taking longer to resolve than normal.

I’m not sure that the photo adequately demonstrates it but these two gullies are full of water to the bottom of the grating. This would indicate that they are still blocked between the gully and the surface water sewer. There is no problem with access and they are on a public highway so there should be no problem( apart from will to do it) in solving this issue.

I would agree with the last comment - the problem is not 'fixed' (not sure why Bromley Council keep marking as such on this portal) as the gullies are still blocked and very much full to the top with water. The next rain fall we have will have them overflowing onto the road/pavement unless the connection to the water sewer is investigated/cleared?

Still two incredibly blocked gullies that I've been reporting, consistently for 5 months and nothing is done? I don't know if there is an issue with Network Rail and Bromley Council on keeping them clear but the water just sit on the road 24/7 and with the bad weather/rain heading our way I am very worried about my property, which sits incredibly close to them, is at risk?

The drainage assets have been attended by our drainage contractor however the source of the issue appears to be more complex than a simple routine cleanse. As such further investigation work will be required using CCTV. These need to be scheduled alongside cyclic drainage cleans, emergency call outs, pre-planned drainage operations and ad-hoc call outs meaning they are often undertaken not in the order that they are reported but in the order of degree of urgency. While this FixMyStreet report will be closed the issue will remain on our list of outstanding drainage works until such time that they can be completed. We thank you for your patience and understanding on these matters.
