The tree outside my house is over hanging my drive by about 2m. I have requested for it to be pruned for 4 years. My car and drive are always covered in bird droppings and muck from the tree. Could you please arrange for it to be pruned back. If I arrange it, will you repay me the cost. I previously sent pictures of the tree.

As far as I am concerned you are Hippocratic. When I owned the house next door a tree in the garden was over hanging the pavement, and you demanded me to prune it back to the boundary. I therefore demand that you do the same with the tree over hanging my property. Or I will get it pruned and send you the Bill for a refund.

Bromley has a duty to ensure the highway is kept free from obstructions and will request the responsible parties for overhanging vegetation to maintain their trees/vegetation to ensure that.
Where a public tree overhangs private land, under common law, the property owner is entitled to prune any branches that overhang your airspace back to your property boundary. However before undertaking any works to a council owned tree we ask that you:
Contact the Heritage and Urban design team on 020 8313 4516 if you live in a conservation area; are not sure whether you do or not; or the tree has a Tree Preservation Order on it. Some trees are protected so you must gain permission before undertaking any works to them.
Also contact the Arboricultural team on 020 8313 4471 should you or your contractor need to climb the Council tree to undertake the works.
Please ensure that all works to prune the tree are undertaken to arboricultural standard BS3998. All pruning cuts must be executed to a professional standard with no rips, tares, stubs, or other practises that could be detrimental to the health of the tree or users of the highway.
