Significant flooding of the road progressing up the pavement. Frequent issue

Reported via desktop in the Flooding in the road category anonymously at 10:11, Thu 14 January 2021 using FixMyStreet Pro

Sent to London Borough of Bexley less than a minute later

Attached are phot's from the 6th January and Now the 14th January. This is a regular occurrence during even moderate rainfalls. This prevents parking outside of the property and throws water and road debris (stones etc) over the parked vehicles on the drive of No'84 and 82 causing potential damage to property.

  • I don’t know how often this needs to be reported to get it fixed. Every time it rains we get this. It was looked at a couple of years ago and pumped out, but this time nothing.

  • 1st March after roughly 1.5 hrs of moderate rainfall. Gentleman did visit to inspect on the 1st and said there wasn't a problem as the water was below the gulleys. Clearly the problem is a blockage elsewhere as was discussed at the time.

  • Nope, no-one has been out to resolve.

  • The pumping van appeared and pumped out the drain yet again, at least the 3rd time in 6 years of raising the issue. But as was agreed when talking to the surveyor the blockage is elsewhere as the water is below the output drain and the manhole in the middle of the carriageway was not lifted.

  • After 30 minutes of rain this is what we're up against. The pump truck was only here 2 - 3 weeks ago. The blockage is clearly under the tarmac, not the drain. Please fix this

  • So far I’ve been asked numerous times if this has been fixed. No and water that goes up that far will damage the suspension on my car as it’s not designed for continuous submersion. Should this continue the repair bill will almost certainly be in the 000’s.

  • Keep being asked if it’s fixed, be good if someone stuck a camera up the outflow (there’s a drain cover in the middle of the road). Every time it rains moderately it floods the pavement. The depth is over the lower suspension on the cars, they are not designed for being submerged hours on end. Very tired of nothing being done over the last 6 years.

  • As ever, monthly questionnaire and no action, pointless trying to get anything done.

  • Unlikely anything has been fixed, just need to wait for the next bit of rain.
