Hi

I'm following up on an email that I sent to the council in June as I did not get a reply to my email. I'm copying in 2 local councillors, in the hope that this prompts for some action to be take. The issue of dog faeces in Bloomfield park continues to be a problem in the park. Everyone in the local area knows its a problem and people are stopping their children going there. My son refuses to go there to play football now. The last time I went unknown to me, there was dog mess on the ball, I wiped my face and smeared dog poo all over my face. Had this been a young child this could have gone in their mouth. As children these days have very few areas where they are allowed to play safely, surely your priority should be to make this a safe and healthy environment for our children.

My sister had toxocariaris from dog faeces, and could have lost her eye sight had it not been treated promptly so this is actually a public health issue- it's not just the inconvenience of getting faeces on your footwear and clothes it's a serious problem. This is just one of many health issues that can be passed on through dog faeces. All the photos I sent in my last message were found in an area of about 30 sqm - it's really not acceptable. As I also said in my last message, the worms my son contracted were most likely picked up from Bloomfield Park and it's really not fair that the actions of a few people have such a damaging effect on the children in the community.

I am soon to become a dog owner and I love dogs but you need to stop irresponsible dog owners letting their dogs off the lead if they are not willing/or able to pick up the mess. Please can this be sorted out by the summertime when all the children will be desperate to start running around outside after such a miserable wet winter. I look forward to receiving a reply to this email.

Many thanks Nia
