Light out - safety concern 002 Longfellow Avenue
Reported in the Street light fault category anonymously at 13:02, Wed 11 December 2019 using FixMyStreet Pro
Sent to Bath and North East Somerset Council 3 minutes later. FixMyStreet ref: 1883777.
Reported by numerous residents and most recently in November and Dec. Longfellow Lamp out 002 - Lack of adequate light on pathways forcing public to walk in road is a H&S concern. Council response in Nov is they've 'chased' contractors - reasonable expectation that as this fault and H&S issue has been known to B&NES for a long time, the contractors would have been prioritised to fix this. Meanwhile this part of the street is NOT SAFE for pedestrians.

As this is an ongoing safety issue and has been reported frequently by numerous residents of the Avenue, how long does it reasonably take to get a response from the ‘contractor’ (we are paying for) to give a definitive date when they will attend and fix the light? If I withheld my council tax for the same length of time it’s taken to get this safety issue resolved I guarantee I would have received a summons to recover the payment by now. This delay is not ‘reasonable’ and all of the residents who are politely asking for work to be done - and paying in good faith - deserve an immediate resolution. Please fix the light before Christmas. 2019.

We can confirm that work to install new column 002 is intended to start before the end of the year. A new power supply will then be connected to the light and we have been advised this is planned to happen in the first part of January. We hope this information is of help and we are sorry for the delay in this work taking place.
