Which path is which?

I currently cycle along the path which starts oppposite Oasis school and continues all the way to Sainsburys. There are now currently two paths which start at Fairisle Road and ends at Sainsburys avoiding the main road. One path has recently been cleared thanks to the builders Drew Smith Limited. Before then, the path was none existent due to trees and undergrowth. I was shouted at by a parent taking his child to Fairisle School and told to get on the right path? Can you please put up some signs or markings to indicate which path is which? If the cycle path is the one that is nearest the builders fence(which is the one the gentleman was indicating) and has just been cleared, then it is not fit for purpose as it is not road worthy due to roots, broken tarmac, undergrowth etc. There are many secondary school children cycling along the flagged path which is wider and less dangerous but is also used by parents with young children.
