Funnily enough this is still an issue. Heavy rain =flooding in recreation road and Beckenham Lane. Wouldn't be an issue if leaves were cleared and drains proactively cleared.

Thank you for your report. In response, the rainwater gullies along the carriageway were fully serviced by being sucked out and jetted in the middle of October along Beckenham Lane and the beginning of neighbouring roads such as Highland Road as well as increased cleansing during the leafing period. We have since reviewed what we can do to try and mitigate this from continually recurring. Unfortunately, during periods of heavy rainfall, there can be greater volumes of rainfall and resulting water flow than there is capacity in each individual carriageway gully to cope. The water coming from the top of the hill will flow off any gully working at full capacity and onto a flat location where it will eventually pool until the rain stops and can eventually drain away. For this purpose, we will seek to increase street cleansing to reduce, where possible, debris washed down and blocking the gully grills; as well introduce periodic and increased jetting of these gullies to confirm they are always running at full capacity. I will arrange for the gullies to be re-attended in the next few weeks, and for the two rainwater gullies at the corner of Recreation Road, highlighted in this report, to be double checked for any fault that can be rectified through minor remedial works. If future instances such as this do recur, you can log an emergency out of hours report via our website: https://www.bromley.gov.uk/ info/ 200040/ environmental_health/ 245/ drainage_problems. Kind regards. LBB NO5 25/11/19
