Carrington Avenue/Chapel Road

Reported in the Footpath / pavement problem category anonymously at 17:40, Monday 17 June 2019 using FixMyStreet Pro

Received by Buckinghamshire County Council moments later

This is near the end of Carrington Avenue, where it joins Chapel Road. The pavement is in a state of disrepair along much of Carrington Ave. Unfortunately, each time the council sends the 'sweeper' round, all it succeeds in doing is destroying more of the pavement and depositing the resulting rubble across what is left of the pavement, so it leaves the pavement worse than if it didn't sweep it. There are a number of elderly people who now walk on the road as they are less likely to fall than if they tried to walk on the pavement, especially with all the rubble caused by the mechanical sweeper as it rips up more of the pavement.

  • SUGGESTION: It would be better if the council didn't 'sweep' Carrington Avenue's pavements because they are far clearer before the mechanical sweeper arrives than they are after, as the sweeper rips up more pavement every time it comes, mainly at the edges, depositing it in the middle. It gradually clears over a period of a couple of weeks, but next time the sweeper comes, it destroys some more and makes it impossible for some people to walk safely on the pavement.
