Approx 25 yds down Sheepridge Lane travelling south, the edge of the carriageway is breaking up for several yards, particularly dangerous as this is the narrowest part of the lane.

Sent to Buckinghamshire Council 4 minutes later. FixMyStreet ref: 1457595.
Travelling down Sheepridge Lane from the junction with Heath End Road, the nearside edge of the carriageway is breaking up badly for approx. 15 yds. As this is at the narrowest part of the road, vehicles travelling down move away from the damage putting them in the path of vehicles travelling up the road. When vehicles are passing at this point the nearside wheels of vehicles travelling downhill are forced into the deepening rut at the edge of the carriageway, with potential loss of control of the vehicle.

Hello,
I can confirm that the pothole at this locatoin is serious and in urgent need of repair as on Friday morning (4th Dec) at ~ 9am my car hit the pothole causing an immediate puncture on front nearside tyre and forcing me to stop on the roadside. Subsequent checking of the rear nearside tyre showed that the sidewall was damaged and also had to be replaced.
The total cost to me was £314 for two new tyres and tracking re-alignment + £99 AA call out to fix the puncture and get me moving again.
Please let me know how I can claim back compensation for a total of £412

Hello,
My wife hit this same pothole on January 10th 2019 around 17:40 and the front passenger side tyre was punctured immediately which is not fixable. She’s now got to pay £119 for a new tyre and fitting. How does she claim this back?

I have attached photos of the pothole that damaged two tyres on my car. I have also submitted a compensation claim on the BCC website. Create a login and then complete the form .
The danger of this pothole is that although it is not large, it is deep and is on a corner. If traffic is approaching in the other direction it is very hard to avoid. The pothole caused an immediate deflation of my front tyre .. fortunately I kept control and managed yto pull over to the side of the road.

Thanks for the info Philip. I have submitted a claim for compensation.
I have raised another report after BCC stated this pothole didn’t meet the criteria for immediate repair and stating further updates would not be provided.
I have also raised it with Mr Pothole (Mark) who was featured on Pothole Wars on ITV last night. Mark has confirmed that he has raised a complaint with BCC in regards to this and they’re currently investigating the issue.
I will provide further updates from Mark when available. Hopefully the pothole gets repaired immediately and we’re all reimbursed soon after.

Hi Philip,
Did you ever receive compensation from the council?

Hi,
I received a reply after 6 months from BCC saying they would NOT pay compensation as Section 58 of the Highways Act provides a defence... that they had inspected the road regularly.
I have subsequently contested this and requested reports about the inspections undertaken under a Freedom of Information request.
