House shaking and crack caused by traffic

Reported anonymously at 00:25, Fri 17 March 2017

We moved in last year and since then we realise that the house shaking is getting worse and worse. We found the house is constantly shaking badly whenever the variety of large vehicles such as freight trucks, heavy goods (HGV) and construction vehicles travel past. The speed limit is 40 on Sidcup road. But the large vehicles are always travel over the speed limit!! I think that's the main reason caused our house shaking. My house seems to shake more violently whenever a large vehicle passes on it. The impact of all this constant shaking has led to the walls in my house to crack, both internally and externally. We fixed a lot wall crack when we moved in, but the walls of our house are getting more new crack after we did the construction. Even my window frames are always making a ‘clicking’ sound as though they are being bent out of shape. Mentally, apart from being awakened in the middle of the night by the shaking, I am always worrying that either the walls or my windows will break. We changed the loft into new bedrooms, the top floor shakes even more and my parents live on that floor always feel like earthquakes. Our newborn baby is often frightened to cry by the shaking when he is sleeping during the night. It's really affect our life!!!!! I could understand it is hard to force the large vehicles to choose an alternative route. But I think the speed camera has to be considered. Our house previous owner told us they had speed camera before in front of the house. But they took them away for no reason and after that the house was started shaking badly when the large vehicle passes. Could you please investigate into our case and help us to find a way to reduce the shaking please?!!! This problem is urgently needed to be solved.
