Streets are an absolute mess, again
Reported in the Street cleaning category anonymously at 13:06, Thu 24 July 2014 using FixMyStreet Pro

Yet again Blandford Road, Beckenham Road and Churchfields Road are an absolute mess. This is not a one-off. It is always like this. Why is this such a problem in this area? Street cleaning, street weeds and overflowing bins...Please sort it out. And don't report it as fixed unless you can regularly commit to cleaning the area. It has been like this for at least 6 months now. It's disgusting.

Come on LBB, admit there is a problem, admit that you and your contractors aren't keeping the streets of Penge, Anerley, Beckenham, Clock House (the list goes on) clean. Stop fobbing us with formulaic responses that mean absolutely nothing, grow some balls and get on top if this. There is an obvious ground swell of opinion that says you aren't doing a good job of keeping our streets clean, so listen to what the public are saying and show us you mean business.

Should be enough of a dossier here to serve a Litter Abatement Order on Bromley Council...? Section 91 of the Environmental Protection Act gives any citizen the right to take action via the Magistrates Court against a duty body not complying with their duty to ensure that they keep their land, so far as is practicable, free of litter and refuse.

Bromley Council do monitor the performance of the contractor to ensure that standards are achieved and omissions of work are corrected. A significant portion of our street cleansings resource is spent in the North-West of the borough in and around Penge and Clockhouse which has the highest frequency of cleansing anywhere in the borough. Unfortunately there are those anti-social individuals who continuously litter and flytip in this area.
Bromley take the issue of street cleanliness very seriously and do ask those residents who also wish to tackle the issue to assist us, both in reporting if the perpetrators of littering and flytipping are witnessed and encourage them to become a Street Friend and become active in assisting with community cleans.
FixMyStreet is designed to enable residents to alert Bromley Council to issues within the borough and provide updates as to the resolution of those issues. While Bromley Council respects the right of residents to express their opinions, FixMyStreet is not intended as a forum for the discussion of policy.

This problem has not been fixed. It is getting worse. We are responsible residents. We keep our streets clean. The bins are not emptied enough, it needs to be daily. Rubbish is regularly overflowing from all the street bins in this area and it gets blown around the streets. People dump there rubbish because there is no space in the bins to dispose of it. See pics below. We are not treating this as a forum. We are trying to alert you to a very real problem in this area.

Bin next to the recycle point on corner of Blandford Road / Beckenham Road has still not been emptied. Litter getting blown around everywhere. Spotted this as a problem last Tuesday so it's been one week now, and it's not been emptied during this time.

Hayne Road (fire station side) and Kingston Crescent is also an absolute mess, I've had to sweep yesterday round my house. We are DEFINITELY not swept every other week, it's shocking.

Please can we have a street sweeper that has a broom regularly go round Beckenham Road, corner of Blandford Road and Churchfields Road. There are overgrown weeds round walls and pavements and general street debris, cigarette butts, leaves, twigs, broken glass...

And pray tell, what EXACTLY, is the London Borough of Bromley going to do???
What we need is people with a broom, who can get into corners, people with litter puckers to get into bushes etc. NOT a chap in a road sweeper, who goes round it if they can't reach it.
LBB, it's NOT exactly rocket science is it????
But, it's what US, the citizens of Beckenham want!!!

The roads all needs sweeping regularly around here and the bins need emptying daily. The road crossing opposite Beckenham Road tram stop has pigeon poo all over the little button and it's been like that for years...And the bin at the end of Mackenzie Road, bordering Beckenham Road is overflowing again....

LBB: do the number of complaints and associated images of the filthy streets in Beckenham, Clock House, Penge, Anerley, Crystal Palace etc not tell you anything? I've lived in Bromley all my life and never seen our streets looking so dirty and unloved, we appreciate that many individuals are filthy buggers, but it is clear that the council and Kier isn't doing a good enough job. We want you to recognise that there is an issue, (because you know there is one don't you) and DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT PLEASE.

And WHY is this problem shown as fixed, when it is CLEARLY NOT!

We ask that new and separate issues are logged as new and separate reports to avoid conflicting information or updates. Each FMS report uses the subject and map pin position to alert LBB and our contractor of an issue, where a multitude of locations and issues are simply added to the same report that information is not automatically passed on for action. New and separate reports also help us build a better picture of problems areas and help us in knowing where to target our resources. All the comments above have been noted by our Street Cleansing Team.
